Robbie Joel Whiddon, 54, of Gonzales, passed away on March 20, 2026. He was born on February 24, 1972, in Baton Rouge, where he spent his early years and later built a life grounded in family, service, and meaningful connections with others.
Robbie graduated from St. Amant High School in the class of 1991.
Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that reflected his commitment, discipline, and sense of duty.
His time in the military remained an important part of his identity throughout his life, shaping the values he carried into his personal and professional endeavors.
After his service, Robbie pursued a career in sales, with a strong focus on the automotive industry.
He was known for his approachable personality, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Colleagues and customers alike appreciated his sincerity and dedication, qualities that helped him build lasting relationships over the years.
Robbie had a wide range of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid supporter of LSU sports and followed professional football with enthusiasm.
Beyond sports, he enjoyed kickboxing, working on automobiles, and scuba diving, activities that reflected both his energy and curiosity.
He valued experiences that allowed him to stay active and engaged, often finding fulfillment in hands-on hobbies and time spent outdoors.
At the center of Robbie’s life was his deep love for his family and those closest to him.
He especially cherished the companionship of his loyal service dog, Boss, who was a constant presence and a source of comfort and friendship.
Their bond was a meaningful part of his daily life and brought him great happiness.
Robbie is survived by his father, Jim Whiddon, and his stepmother, Madaline Whiddon; his mother, Jonell Villar Stafford, and his stepfather, Larry Stafford; as well as his siblings Brad Whiddon and his wife, Crystal, and Michael Whiddon and his wife, Callie.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. His family remembers him as someone who valued connection, shared moments, and the importance of staying close to loved ones.
He will be remembered for his strong spirit, his loyalty, and the genuine warmth he extended to those around him.
Robbie’s life was marked by service, both to his country and to the people he encountered along the way, leaving behind memories that continue to resonate with family and friends.
Visitation services will be held at Ourso Funeral Home. The first visitation is scheduled for March 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A second visitation will take place on March 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm at the same location.
Robbie will be laid to rest at the Louisiana National Cemetery. His life and legacy will continue to be honored by those who knew and loved him, as they remember a man who lived with purpose, strength, and devotion to the people and passions that mattered most to him.
